Aston Martin DB4
This Aston Martin DB4 was built for the Swedish racing driver Oscar Swahn ahead of the 1960 Tulip Rally in Holland, where he finished second overall. The car was delivered new on April 22nd, 1960, and was prepared by the Aston Martin factory for competition use.
The car partook in both the 1960 and 196s editions of the Tulip Rally. It was sold new with a Halda Speed Pilot, which was factory fitted and comes with the purchase. This DB4 has an extensive and well-documented history dating back to its first stint at the factory until present-day.
Mr. Swahn initially wanted a DB4 GT, but due to its rarity, he instead ordered a black-on-red DB4. However, a car in such specification was not readily available for the rally, so he settled for the Desert White (MO37-3267) with the Black Connolly leather seats (WM.8500).
In the early hours of July 3rd, 1961, disaster struck. Mr. Swahn careened into a tree, and the DB4 suffered substantial damage. However, it was back on the road in 1967 in the hands of a certain Mr. Hans Svedberg, who drove the car on a family vacation.
In June of 2011, it ended up in the hands of Aston Martin specialist Aston Hill in Stockholm, Sweden. Between 2012 and 2018, it received a complete cost-no-object renovation to restore it to its former glory days. Each minute detail has been carefully considered, and the resulting masterpiece is this 1960 Aston Martin DB4.
The car has been equipped with a discretely fitted air conditioning system and EZ electric power steering with adjustable resistance, depending on preference. It also features three twin-choke Weber carburetors, Borrani alloy rims, Lucas sports lamps, and a period-correct 1960s Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio.
This DB4 is offered with a rear bumper delete, although the original chrome bumpers are included in the sale. The restoration has been done with the utmost respect for maintaining originality and honoring the car’s colorful history.
This 1960 Aston Martin DB4 is an exquisite example of one of the British marque’s most desirable models. It is one of the most famous Swedish Aston Martins and has been comprehensively covered in numerous magazines, and comes with full documentation.
The car is available to view in our showroom in Uppsala, Sweden, and is an ideal addition to any connoisseur’s collection. It is a remarkable specimen that is ready to hit the open road. We can assist you with all your needs and are looking to make classic car ownership practical and enjoyable.
