  • A limited-edition model harking back to Porsche’s iconic 356 Speedster of the 1950s, the 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster evokes its predecessor with a short, steeply raked windscreen, a driver-focused interior, and a distinctive double-hump tonneau cover.

It was the final version of the original 911 produced in the old Zuffenhausen factory before the launch of the 964 model on a new production line. A total of 2,065 Speedsters were produced, and the vast majority of customers opted for the wide Turbo-look bodyshell in favor of the standard Carrera’s narrow body.

This particular Speedster is one of only 171 examples featuring the narrow-body Carrera format and was delivered new in Sweden finished in Silver Metallic over a Black leather interior.

The car have been cared for by the same owner since new and is supported by dealer service entries dating from 1990 to 2019. Showing under 70k kilometers (approx. 43k miles) on the odometer, this exceptionally rare narrow-body 911 Speedster can be viewed in the MOTIKON showroom in Uppsala, Sweden.

The Speedster is distinguished from the rest of Porsche’s 911 model range with its short and steepened aluminum-framed windscreen, frameless side windows, and double-hump fiberglass tonneau cover which conceals its manual convertible soft top. This example is finished in Silver Metallic (L980) and features European-market lights & bumpers, as well as 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels with body-colored centers. An aftermarket muffler has been installed and the paint remains in very good condition for its age while showing some small cracks and imperfections.

To accommodate the car’s lower roofline, the Speedster’s Sport Seats are lowered by 20mm and paired with standard seat bottoms to allow easier entry and egress for its passengers. The driver-focused car came without rear seats, power windows, or air conditioning. It also included smaller sun visors in accordance with its unique windscreen.

This example features Black leather (VD) upholstery with optional heated and electrically adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, manual heater controls, and an upgraded Porsche Classic (PCCM) radio with satellite navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

A list of the car’s original equipment codes is provided below:

    • C09 – Country Code for Sweden
    • 139 – Seat Heating, Left
    • 220 – Limited-Slip Differential
    • 328 – Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 Radio

    • 383 – Sport Seat, Left, Electrical Height Adjustment
    • 387 – Sport Seat, Right, Electrical Height Adjustment
    • 533 – Alarm System

The European-specification 3.2-liter flat-six engine was rated at 231 HP and sends power to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. Service entries are present in the car’s dealer maintenance booklet dating from June 1990 at 2,084 kilometers to September 2019 at 67,309 kilometers. There are no outstanding maintenance items reported.
