  • This Porsche 993 Carrera S is a captivating Vesuvio Edition and a true parting song for the final air-cooled 911. Finished in the decidedly rare and sought-after Vesuvio Metallic Paint adorned by Steel Grey door mirror caps, it is a fitting adieu to the definitive modern classic of the 911 range.

The Carrera S was the last act of the 993 and combined the wide bodyshell of the Turbo model while housing a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, thus combining the best of both worlds. The Carrera S features a lower suspension compared to the standard Carrera. The S-version is one of the more desirable 993 versions due to its wider stance and excellent roadholding.

To cite the well-renowned Classic Driver – “the 993 was and forever will be the last fresh breath of air that Porsche gave the world; elegance and muscle all in one package”. It has now become a modern classic, bridging the gap between the 911s of old and the new specimen emanating from Stuttgart.

A total of 68,029 units of the 993 were produced, with a mere 3,714 being in Carrera S-iteration. Amongst these, less than 100 were in the shape of the coveted Vesuvio Edition with the manual gearbox for the European market. Most 993s were specified with the Tiptronic gearbox. This 993 is an excellent specimen in original condition with 18-inch lightweight Technology Design Wheels. Additionally, Steel grey accents adorn the combined rear engine cover and spoiler. The European specification of this 933 makes it superbly rare.

The flat-six engine produces 286 horsepower, which drives the rear wheels through the hoped for six-speed manual transmission. This 993 Vesuvio Edition was sold new in Sweden, with great history and 135 000 kilometers on the odometer, having been appreciated for what it is – one of the most sought-after driver’s cars of the modern era.

The car in question was delivered to its first owner on the 14th of October 1997 and has a well documented service history covering its 25 years on the road. Regarding exclusivity, the Vesuvio Metallic paint is the rarest non-paint-to-sample Porsche paint.

The interior is of the Classic grey variety, which goes hand-in-hand with the Steel grey instrument bezels, matching shift knob, and parking brake handle. It has gone through the Porsche Exklusiv Manufaktur-program, has electric and heated seats, air-conditioning, cruise control, stainless steel door sills, and the contemporary Radio Porsche CDR-21 “Ludwigsburg” as well as an active differential brake and equipped with the 18” Turbowheels.

This Porsche 993 Vesuvio Edition has recently been serviced and is ready to hit the open road and be enjoyed by its next caretaker. The car’s specification ticks all the right boxes and is a terrific addition to any enthusiast’s garage.
